Ballet Classes

This classical form of dance follows the technique of the Royal Academy of Dance and is the basis for all dance forms.

Although enrollment in ballet is not mandatory in order to take other forms of dance, it is highly recommended. Students may enroll in ballet at the age of 5 years old, or 4 years old with one year of Creative Dance.

The length of the class is dictated by the grade in which the child is enrolled, as follows:

  • * Pre-Primary, Primary: one 45-minute class per week
  • * Grade 1: one 1-hour class per week
  • Grades 2 to 5: two 1-hour classes per week
  • ** Senior and Grades 6 to 8: two 1¼-hour classes per week
  • Pointe: 30 min-1 hour per week
  • Recreational: 45 min-1 hour class per week

As you have noticed,Grades 2 and higher offer two classes of ballet per week. We are also offering a recreational ballet class for those students wishing to strengthen other dance forms or sports as well as for those students wishing to enroll in one ballet class per week.
NEW THIS YEAR: We will be incorporating the Shumka Ukrainian Dance Syllabus into our ballet classes from Grade 1 - Grade 3. This will be incorporated into the Character section of the class.

Please note:

* Primary and Grade 1 exam students may be asked to attend classes twice per week during the two months preceding the exam. This fee will be invoiced separately.

** The Grade 6 Ballet classes will include a Pointe segment therefore registration in a separate Pointe class is not necessary.
