Physical Limitations: Please notify the studio immediately about any injury or limitation your child might have. This allows us to ensure a safe teaching environment for your child. Announcements: Monthly newsletters will be posted on the web site during the first week of every month. A paper copy is always available in the studio lobby. We ask that every family take responsibility to check the web site on a regular basis. If you do not have access to a computer and would like to receive paper copies of the newsletter, we would be happy to provide that for you. However, we strongly encourage you to check the web site for weekly updates. Our web-site address is www.danceinnovations.com. Dual Studio Enrollment: Dance Innovations offers quality dance education in a variety of disciplines. Any student wishing to attend classes at another studio must obtain permission from the Artistic Director.
Parent Viewing: There will be two weeks in which the parents may sit in on their child’s class. These dates will be announced later in the year. Exams: A.D.A.P.T. Jazz and Tap exams are set and RAD ballet exams are set for November and December. Students are entered into exams at the discretion of the instructor and may not necessarily enter an exam each year. RAD suggests two years at the Grade 3-4 level and ADAPT suggests two years at some point during the Pre-Intermediate levels. Dance Innovations will consider their suggestions. Please note that during exam days, the instructor reserves the right to cancel regular classes. Competition: All students are welcome to participate in competition at the group level which will be rehearsed during class. If you are not interested in having your child participate in competitive work, you are encouraged to register in the Recreational classes. Extra competition work is only for the committed dancer. Instructors will select students for out-of-class groups or solo/duet work based on effort in class and previous competition experience. Not all classes will participate in out of town competitions. The level and committment of dancers will be assessed at the beginning of the year and parents notified as to what competition each class will be attending. Please keep in mind that we have the child's best interest at heart when making these decisions. Year–End Production: All students, except those registered in sessional classes, participate in the Year End Production during the weekend of May 27-29. This is the student’s chance to perform and show their family and friends what they have accomplished during the year. If your child is unavailable for any aspect of rehearsal during this week-end, please let studio know that your child will not be available to participate. Questions and Concerns: All instructors at Dance Innovations are educated and experienced in teaching dance to children. However, we also know that nobody knows a child better than his/her parent. If at anytime any questions arise, please do not hesitate to discuss them with your child’s instructor or the Director. We ask that you do this during non-teaching hours so that the instructor may give you their full attention without taking away from another child’s class. Grooming: This is an extremely important aspect of dance. Hair must be in a bun or off of the neck for ballet and tied back in a ponytail or something similar for jazz, tap or creative dance. Proper dance clothes must be worn at all times. In chilly weather a zip-up hoody can be worn for the beginning of class. Please allow your child to understand the importance of being properly prepared for their class. Studio Dancewear: Please see the web-site or any of our local dance stores for information. |
